The DoctorMX5 Cold Air Intake systems takes ambiant air from the mouth of car instead of the hot side next to the exhaust manifold. And the length of the air intake is reduced by about 70% increasing the engines ability to breath.
Price depends on the MX5, typically between £750.00 and £900.00 PLUS VAT
The standard air book is removed. It's located on the "hot" side of the engine, the worst place to get cold air in.
A "short" radiator is made to fit the existing hoses and to allow for a space inside the mouth of the car to mount the air filter.
This example is a MK1 1.8. Here's the airflow meter. It's within 25 cm of the throttle body.
The cone filter is mounted in the mount of the car, where the air is the coolest and at highest pressure too.
We only make these to order. They are specifically made for each customer's car.
